The Egyptian people, temporarily enslaved by a police state and separated from their brothers and sisters who are demanding a dignified life and a free government. Democracy and dignity will be complete when these disenfranchised citizens are freed from their helmets and batons and brought back into the fold of civilian life. This is not such a quixotic thought. It won’t happen soon, but as a beautiful ballad from the American civil rights movement put it, “Keep your eyes on the prize.”
